Our sponsorship services

Whether you're married, living together or kept apart by circumstance, there's a sponsorship category for your relationship.

Inland or outland: pick the right route

The stream you choose affects work rights, travel and what happens if IRCC says no.

Inland sponsorship

For couples already living together in Canada who want to stay together while the application is processed.

Best if your partner is in Canada and plans to stay

Open work permit

Available after a complete application, once the sponsor is found eligible.

Stay together

Public policy can help your partner remain in Canada legally during processing.

Limited appeal rights

Refusals generally can't go to the Immigration Appeal Division, so getting it right first matters.

What IRCC looks at in every file

Officers review both partners and the relationship itself. Here's what goes into a strong application.

A relationship that's clearly genuine

Cohabitation, how long you've been together, compatibility, cultural context and arranged-marriage circumstances are all considered. We build a clear narrative that matches your documents and communication history.

Sponsor eligibility

You must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident, 18 or older, not bankrupt, not in prison, not under a removal order, and not have sponsored a spouse in the last five years.

120–150

pages in a typical application package, often with translations

5–6

page submission letter we write for every file

Documents you'll need

  • ID and status papers
  • Police certificates
  • Marriage or relationship proof
  • Photos and communication logs
  • Financial undertaking
  • Certified translations

Full disclosure, upfront

Past refusals, charges or gaps in history must be disclosed. Hidden details can lead to a five-year misrepresentation ban. Disclosed ones can be addressed.

From first call to permanent residence

1

Consultation

We review eligibility, spot risks and recommend inland or outland.

2

Build your file

We collect evidence, complete every form and write your submission letter.

3

Submit to IRCC

Current forms, correct fees and photos, linked to your online account to track the AOR.

4

See it through

We answer fairness letters and IRCC requests quickly and completely until approval.

Sponsorship refused or complicated? We take those cases.

A past sponsorship refusal or an admissibility issue doesn't have to end your plans. We build your spousal application around it.

Questions couples ask us

Don't see your question? Talk to our team directly.

What are the government fees?

IRCC lists $1,205 for a sponsored spouse or partner and $170 for each dependent child. Fees change from time to time, so we confirm the current amount before filing.

Can my spouse work while we wait?

Inland applicants may apply for an open work permit after submitting a complete sponsorship and PR application, once the sponsor is found eligible.

Can my spouse visit Canada during processing?

Spouses with a pending PR application can access visitor visas more easily under IRCC's updated policy, especially once a file number or first-stage approval exists.

What if I have a criminal record?

Options include deemed rehabilitation (about ten years after non-serious offences), criminal rehabilitation after five years, humanitarian arguments, or a Temporary Resident Permit.

What happens if we're refused?

Outland refusals can be appealed to the Immigration Appeal Division. Inland refusals usually need a new application or judicial review at the Federal Court.
